Gravity at Yale University

  • Morse Recital Hall at Yale University 470 College Street New Haven, CT, 06511 United States (map)

The power of gravity defines us in a very real way, and the sweep of this program moves from the cold weightlessness of space down through the atmosphere to the surface of the world - before zooming back out again. Part and Xenakis present very different visions of space; one serene, the other filled with potentially violent energy. Kernis’s heavenly harmonies make way for the richly grounded Bartok, while Golijov’s “Tenebrae” takes a look at our pale blue dot through an ancient musical lens.
