LOSS AND RESURRECTION
featuring the Miró Quartet
We are very excited to be collaborating with the Miró Quartet in Jordan Hall. The Quartet is in the final stages of recording the complete Beethoven string quartets, and will share its expertise when they lead A Far Cry as principal players in a new Crier arrangement of Beethoven’s op 135.
Also on the program is a new AFC arrangement of Kevin Puts’s Credo, which will feature the Mirós as a solo quartet in the middle of the stage with the Criers performing as the surrounding tutti orchestra. The piece (originally written in 2007 and premiered by the Miró Quartet that year), is an outcry over the violent shootings in Virginia Tech University in April of 2007 in Blacksburg.
Finally, Richard Strauss’s incomparable Metamorphosen, will be led by Criers with members of the Miró filling out the 23 solo string parts, displaying the evening’s true collaborative spirit.
