Dvorak’s Serenade is in many ways a stylistic departure; often rhythmically-based, his writing here is mostly lyrical. AFC will bring some of his signature groove back, inspired by a first half of dance music: an IDM (intelligent dance music) set by Sufjan Stevens, and a suite by the leader of the original string dance band, Louis XIV’s court composer Jean-Baptiste Lully.
