Obsession

A Far Cry’s first all-Baroque concert explores the forbidden territory of obsession, fixing its gaze relentlessly on whatever subject it touches. Vivaldi’s warnings against worldly indulgence in “Nulla” are thoroughly ignored as the warlike sounds of Meder’s “Battaglia” fill the air, as Armida suffers from love’s agony, and as the craziness of “La Folia”’s repetition takes hold. The luminous Amanda Forsythe is guest artist in cantatas by Vivaldi and Handel.
