Korean-American cellist ANNIE SEEUN HYUNG deeply treasures the intimate connections fostered by music. Despite a late introduction to the cello, her most vivid life memories are closely intertwined with music, through both music-making and listening. Annie is particularly fascinated by the personal nature of the small ensemble, and an ever-growing desire to experience and learn through collaboration has led her to chamber music festivals including Kronberg Academy’s Chamber Music Connects the World, the Perlman Music Program, and the Taos School of Music. She has been fortunate to share performances alongside mentors such as Steven Isserlis, Christian Tetzlaff, Donald Weilerstein, and Tabea Zimmerman.
A graduate of Northwestern University, Annie previously studied with Hans Jorgen Jensen, Michel Strauss, and Sarah Koo Freeman, and is currently pursuing an MM at the New England Conservatory under the guidance of Laurence Lesser as a recipient of the Dean’s Scholarship.
